We generally launch the club RIB from the ramp at East Beach car park, which provides direct access to many of our favourite dive sites. The ramp has recently been refurbished and SBSAC has been actively involved in the design consultation with the local council. This followed on from our involvement in the repairs to the previous ramp, which we arranged for BSAC to part-fund several years ago.

The ramp is long enough to be used without going onto the beach itself except at low tide, when care needs to be taken as the exposed shingle is soft.
As with any launch site on an open beach the ramp is vulnerable to onshore winds, easterly or south-easterly winds can be challenging. As the ramp is rather steep at the far end, users are advised to use a vehicle with 4 wheel drive, mid or high states of tide do not cause a problem.
